Central Illinois Greyhound Adoption (CIGA) is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization incorporated in September of 2000. We are funded by donations, grants and sales, staffed by volunteers who give up their time, energy and resources (both financial and material) for the greyhounds. We receive no compensation for our work, other than the true joy of seeing greyhounds united with their loving families. Without the volunteers and people like you, Central Illinois Greyhound Adoption  would not exist, and for that, we thank you. We are a support group that moves greyhounds from tracks in Iowa, Florida, West Virginia, and Alabama to adoption groups in the United States and Canada.  We also take in broken leg or otherwise injured greyhounds from Iowa, Florida, West Virginia, Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona and Texas, rehabilitate them and when ready, are adopted thru various our sister groups.  Since the year 2000 we have rehabilitated approximately 650 injured racing greyhounds.

If you are interested in adopting a special needs greyhound, click on the “Contact Form” at the top left of this page.  If you live in Northern or Eastern Illinois, contact www.greyhoundsonly.com.  If you live in Western Illinois or Southern Illinois, contact our president sharonpalm@comcast.net and she will be happy to make suggestions on finding your special greyhound.

Central Illinois Greyhound Adoption gratefully acknowledges receipt of a recent grant from the Tony Stewart Foundation.  The funds will be used to pay veterinarian fees in order to rehabilitate injured greyhounds.  Without the help of the Tony Stewart Foundation, CIGA would be unable to help injured greyhounds find loving homes.
